Why Hypnobirthing?

You will learn how to call upon your body’s own natural relaxant and thus lessen, or even eliminate discomfort and the need for medication. You will build a very positive expectation around birth, without any fear and apprehension. In order to do so you will learn techniques to eliminate fear and tension through pregnancy and birth. When a woman is properly prepared for childbirth and when mind and body are in harmony, nature is free to function in the same well-designed manner that it does all mothers in nature. The course requires your commitment to practise the exercises at home and have fun practising together, in order to prepare for your birth journey and your baby.

Additional Care of the newborn class

We recommend that you join our Care of the Newborn baby group class. This class explores how to care and look after your new baby from his/her physical and practical needs to safe sleeping and the ongoing support available for both yourselves as new parents and your baby.

We discuss the immunisation programme and routine checks your baby will receive within the first 48 hours after birth before discharge from hospital, up until 18+ months of age.

During the fun practical part of this session you will all have the opportunity to practice holding, burping, bathing and learning how to swaddle a baby with our baby dolls as well those all important diaper changes.

Hypnobirthing course FAQ’s

  • HypnoBirthing® suits both first time expectant parents and those who have had babies before. It helps women and their partners who are scared of birth or who are anxious because of a previous experience. It helps you prepare for a calmer, easier, positive and empowering birth experience.

  • Maybe, but taking the course cannot guarantee a pain free birth as there are many factors that can affect a birth. The HypnoBirthing® techniques you practice promote the release of endorphins, your body’s own natural relaxant. It requires your commitment to practising the exercises taught in order to master the hypnosis techniques. HypnoBirthing® couples learn to approach their birth without fear, prepared in mind and body, open about whatever their birth will be, and feel satisfied with their birth experience.

  • Yes, of course you can! The HypnoBirthing® programme is intended for a complication-free birth but women were still able to use the techniques they had learnt when their births took another path.

  • Yes, HypnoBirthing® is a beneficial preparation for women and babies when a caesarean birth is required. When birthing mothers require a caesarean section, the HypnoBirthing® techniques are useful in helping mothers and birth companions to stay calm and relaxed and feel positive about their birthing.

HypnoBirthing® helps in several different ways:

HypnoBirthing® embraces the idea of prenatal bonding and this is helpful to all mothers.

Nerves and stress can impact the mother’s ability to take anaesthesia. Using the breathing techniques can help to slow the body down and facilitate the body accepting the anaesthesia more easily.

The Rainbow Relaxation audio track helps you relax before, during, and after surgery for an easier and quicker recovery.

You will be provided with birth preferences for caesarean birth.

  • Yes, we have couples who attended both courses as a personal preference. You should attend at least one of the courses as either course will prepare you for a confident and empowered birth process. If you would like to attend both courses, we suggest that you first have a chat with our HypnoBirthing® practitioner to discuss your needs.

  • If you have attended our HypnoBirthing® course, we do not recommend that you attend the Active Birth class. During the HypnoBirthing® course, you will learn and practice the useful exercises including breathing and relaxation techniques, which are also components of the Active Birth class.
